ability to pick up az command credentials instead of using SPN for Azure

The ms_rest_azure library, which appears to be the basis for authentication and communication with azure, has a file credentials/azure_cli_token_provider.rb, so it appears the functionality is there. It just needs to be exposed in Chef.

It's really an infrastructure thing. Right now, in order to use azure_virtual_machine and other related resources, it is necessary to create a service principal (SPN). This is inconvenient and difficult in many environments. It would be really convenient to be able to use credentials for the az command instead, which is what I'm requesting, and is apparently available in the library.
