We believe that the best way to build software is to do it in close collaboration with the people who use it. We invite you to submit your ideas using the form below. Please be sure to include the problem for which you are solving and the benefits of implementing the idea.
We do our best to implement as many Ideas as we can. Our Product team will evaluate all submitted ideas in a timely manner and will disposition each into one of the following categories: will integrate into the product roadmap, further research is needed, unlikely to implement.
Thanks for collaborating with us!
The ms_rest_azure library, which appears to be the basis for authentication and communication with azure, has a file credentials/azure_cli_token_provider.rb, so it appears the functionality is there. It just needs to be exposed in Chef.
It's really an infrastructure thing. Right now, in order to use azure_virtual_machine and other related resources, it is necessary to create a service principal (SPN). This is inconvenient and difficult in many environments. It would be really convenient to be able to use credentials for the
az
command instead, which is what I'm requesting, and is apparently available in the library.Attachments Open full size
