Chef Ideas

We believe that the best way to build software is to do it in close collaboration with the people who use it. We invite you to submit your ideas using the form below. Please be sure to include the problem for which you are solving and the benefits of implementing the idea.

We do our best to implement as many Ideas as we can. Our Product team will evaluate all submitted ideas in a timely manner and will disposition each into one of the following categories: will integrate into the product roadmap, further research is needed, unlikely to implement.

Thanks for collaborating with us!

Expand user shell timeout check in CentOS 8 compliance profile to scan files in /etc/profiles.d

Currently the check xccdf_org.cisecurity.benchmarks_rule_5.5.3_Ensure_default_user_shell_timeout_is_900_seconds_or_less in CIS CentOS Linux 8 Benchmark Level 1 - Server only checks for the TMOUT variable in /etc/bashrc and /etc/profile. It can be configured in /etc/profiles.d/ as well.

Please expand the control to test files in that directory for the TMOUT variable.
